If your income stopped tomorrow,
how long could your mortgage and family remain financially protected?

The
real question?

It’s not about dying. It’s about protecting the life your family depends on.

Life insurance can provide financial support to help your family manage the mortgage, living costs and other commitments if the unexpected happens

Protect the life you’ve built. Get life insurance

Consider Life Insurance if Any of These Apply to You:

High volume mortgage, long term mortgage
Limited financial protection against a serious unexpected event
Kids - years away from being financially independent
Questions about whether there may be more competitive premiums or options available
Your family relies heavily on your monthly income
Unsure whether you have enough protection in place

The number that matters

If your income disappeared tomorrow, every expense would keep coming:

Not all cover does the same job.

Here’s 4 main types of life insurance that can protect your family

Life Cover

Provides a lump sum payable to selected beneficiaries on the insured’s death or diagnosis of terminal illness.

TPD (total & permanent disability)

Provides a lump sum if the insured becomes totally and permanently disabled, with definitions varying between own‐occupation, any- occupation, and home duties/non‐working. Definitions and exclusions are set out in the PDS.

Trauma/critical illness cover

Provides a monthly benefit replacing a portion of pre‐ disability income where the insured is unable to work due to illness or injury beyond the waiting period, up to the end of the benefit period..

Income protection

Provides a lump sum on diagnosis of a specified condition listed in the PDS (for example, cancer, heart attack, stroke). Lists vary by insurer.

Note: Business Expense Cover: Provides a monthly benefit to cover specified fixed business expenses during a period of illness or injury for
an eligible self‐employed insured.

A brain tumour, a new mortgage, and a baby on the way

The Situation

Julianna, 20s, a young hairdresser, newly married, just bought a house, and was pregnant with her first child.

What Happened

A routine pregnancy check-up led to the discovery of a brain tumour, she had to stop working for surgery and treatment.

THE OUTCOME

Her income protection cover paid a regular income stream to relieve some of the financial pressure and enable to focus on her health and recovery. It also helped her to cover travel and accommodation costs to see her specialist in Brisbane.

“I never thought something like this would ever happen to me but it did and I’m so grateful I took out cover as a young woman. I’m still recovering and I still have to have regular check-ups but money is one less thing I have to worry about.”

A dementia diagnosis at 50, and a business to sell

The Situation

Hugh*, in his mid-50s, ran his own small business and was a devoted husband and father.

What Happened

He began moving more slowly and forgetting things, first put down to age, until months of tests confirmed Lewy Body Disease, a progressive condition affecting movement and memory.

THE OUTCOME

His trauma and TPD cover paid a lump sum, letting him stop work without worrying about bills or medical costs, and funding home modifications to support his changing needs.

“Our adviser managed the entire process, which was invaluable because at the time, I just didn’t have the capacity to think about insurance forms. Having an adviser is essential. The insurer paid our claims quickly. They bent over backwards to get the money to us.”
